Hippopotamus

“Hippopotamus” comes from a Greek word meaning “river horse” — but hippos are not related to horses. Their closest living relative is the whale. An adult hippo can hold its breath underwater for up to 5 minutes!

Visit our hippo, Happy, at Hippo Haven, open seasonally April – October (weather permitting). If he’s not outdoors, find him at the new Robert Dohmen Hippo Indoor Haven!
