The Herb & Nada Maher Family Aviary is home to a new member of the Gentoo penguin flock!
The chick is female and hatched Dec. 29. Her parents are Fiona and Oscar, who are also parents to Pepper and Flurry.
Zookeepers note that she’s happy to be in the habitat with the others, likes to play in the sprinkler, and is just starting to love swimming! Guests can identify the chick by her left gray band.

Aviary zookeepers have selected Cricket, Millie, and Minnow as the options for her name. Vote for your favorite option and be entered to win our Zoo Adventure prize package featuring a two-pack of Zoo admission tickets, and a ride on the North Shore Bank Safari Train, Penzeys carousel, and Sky Safari, plus parking (up to a value of $75). Three winners will be selected.
