Ensuring the survival of selected species

Species Survival Plan® (SSP) programs involve a process facilitated by teams of scientists and animal care professionals working together to implement conservation breeding plans that support long-term genetic diversity of species in professional care. Currently, the Milwaukee County Zoo is involved in 93 SSP programs for animals that live at the Zoo.
