Animal Updates, In The News

On Oct. 7, animal care staff moved some birds out of their outdoor habitats as a result of Avian Influenza detections in an adjacent county.

This decision was based on the birds’ potential susceptibility for Avian Influenza and the likelihood of exposure. The following species are currently indoors and not visible to the public: chickens in the Family Farm; American white pelicans in the African Savanna yard; crested screamers; flamingos.

Additional decisions may be made as the situation evolves.
