White-Tailed Deer
Previous Zoo studies concerning surgical sterilization of wild deer for urban deer control are now being applied at various community levels. The Milwaukee County Zoo is assisting in developing a trap-neuter-release program with a city in northern Illinois to determine the feasibility and public acceptance of surgical sterilization as a method of controlling urban white-tailed deer. The year 2002 marked the second completed year of this four-year project.
